Thanks for the Mo-mories

Yes, the Mo's of 2008 have been laid to rest and for some, the Big Mo-Off could not come soon enough. Here endeth the labour of love for our intrepid band of wandering minstrels, pirates, porn stars, dodgy used car salesmen, 70's PE teachers, Wild Hogs wannabe's and hirsuite hippies!

Thanks to the generosity of co-workers (2nd floor peeps - you rock!!), friends and family the 2008 WestOne MoBro's donated $1630.50 towards finding ways to combat male health issues such as prostate cancer and depression. And hey, the phone lines are still open.....

Mo-inspired food and flying hair was the order of the day, with Donna's Mo-cupcakes taking pride of place in Joel's Mo! Unfortunately we couldn't quite coordinate the event to get all the Mo Bro's and Sista's together and our blog-star James needs to be commended for his inspiring creation and the messages of peace, love and bristles, which have adorned this Blog. Big ups to you JT!

Enjoy the show :)

Wow, you can nearly see that Mo now it has black icing in it!

Just like one of those flashback shows...

And so Movember has come to a close. And what epic journey, such as the one we've all just been through, would be complete without a bit of a wander down the avenues of nostalgia.

Movember brought us opportunties to bring to life some old classics (albeit terrifying ones)...

...to the more contemporary...

...to the criminally-questionable...

As well Movember providing us much laughter in the form of the many and varied photos that graced this blog, it also gave the WestOne Mo Bros a chance to raise money for a number of very good causes.

And such raising of funds would not have been possible were it not for the efforts of all you folk out there who supported the Movember movement, chipped in dollars, porn star jokes and patient looks when the moustaches started looking tragic (which was about day 2, from recollection).

Big thanks also to Dave T, who kept us amused all month with his swashbuckling Photoshoppery of Awesomeness. At this stage, he may be the only one sad that Movember is over...

Huzzah to the Mo Bros and Mo Sistas and all the supporters! Start prepping those upper lips for next year!

You showed us the MO-ney :)

How can we say thank you enough? The generousity of our work colleagues at WestOne and supporters has been overwhelming.

Whilst the official count goes on (with the marginal seat of Kirill still in the balance :P) we can confidently say that at least $900 has been donated to Movember so far, with a couple of tins still to come in.

The 1K target is now well within reach. If you are aware of others who could boost this total, please send them the blog link and encourage them to go to the online donation link in the top right corner of this blog.

Watch this space for details of the Big Mo-Off morning tea. The hair will definitely fly as the clippers come out to play!!

All in a morning's work!

Thanks to all folk around the workplace who very kindly donated to our Movember Fundraising mission!

Cheers also to the Mo Bros - and Mo Sista! - who went the extra yards and dolled themselves up for the morning's venture.

Big ups to Dave who bravely followed the crew around and took the happy snaps.

More photos as they come to light! (and checked for appropriateness...)

Come on...

...it's not like you weren't thinking this when you saw the sordid collection of moustachioed cronies...

Movember Week 2

As we plough on through this month of Movember, more photographic evidence of the crew comes to hand.

A breakdown in communication meant that no one came as a police officer, sailor, Native American chief...

Keep an eye out for the latest cheaply manufactured boy-band, "Mo Zone".

An eager audition crew outside the casting of Baz Lurhmann's Australia. The lead role, unfortunately for these guys, went to another famous Aussie actor - Nicole Kidman.

Perhaps they should have read the brief a bit better.

Joel tells his one moustache joke again.

If you only see one film this year...

...pray it's not...

Seeking inspiration?

We're reaching the halfway point of Movember and we've progressed from fire break to saplings and now to juvenile, on the journey towards old growth. It's understood that Conservation and Land Management have applied for the relevant permits and are preparing for a systematic burn off at the end of the month.

But the Bros have enough growth now to be contemplating just where they'd like to go with their mo. And loyal follower of the blog, Jean, has pointed out the perfect place to source some ideas:

The mo salute

According to the brains trust at Movember HQ, there is now a designated mo salute, for use anytime you cross paths with a mo-cohort.

Not bad, but we reckon they need a bit of a Fonzie, "Ayyyyyyyyyyyy!" in there for good measure.

Reasons why it rocks to have a mo

We think the benefits are obvious as to why a moustache is an absolutely essential accessory for any face - if only for the sheer hairy awesomeness of it.

But for those who perhaps the brilliance of the 'tache has yet to take hold, here are some very convinving reasons as to why you should get on board HMS Moustachnica.

1. All famous moustachioed folk have cool jobs, such as pirate, hypnotist, father figure to a superhero, police chief, lead singer of glam rock bands.

2. Blame regarding the tragic running over of your neighbour's cat/dog/grandma can easily be placed on "your evil twin".

3. People tend to pay more heed to warnings you give, such as, "Beware the moors", "There's a storm brewing..." and "Low fat milk IS higher in sugar."

4. Your impression of Michael J. Fox in Teen Wolf is so much damn better.

5. Your impression of Bea Arthur in The Golden Girls is so much damn better.

You can also score free burgers, but only if you live over east. Boooooo, we say to that - BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Would any West Australian chains be willing to come to the party with such a deal?

Here's a story...

...of a bunch of Mo Bros,
Who were giving up their shaving for a cause!

Their looks would make you pause...

Mo-lbourne Cup!!

Congrats all those who had a win on the Cup today! Commiserations to those who lucked out!

Perhaps the official nag of the WestOne Motown MoBros, Gluey McBristles (pictured left), wasn't the best choice for that first Tuesday of November, but hey, he can retire to stud knowing that his Movember effort will rival Bart Cummings' eyebrows for the coveted 'Most facial hair on the day' award.

Well done Gluey!!

Mo' crew for the cause!

The mo-ssive is growing as quick as the top-lip tangles at the moment, with two more Mo Bros being inducted into the fold.

Welcome aboard to;

Tim 'The Biker' McLachlan
Adolfo 'TEQUILAAAAAAAAA!!' Chavez

Cast away those Remingtons and look forth to the month of hirsute charity!

Don't forget, you can donate to the team by clicking here and sharing the generosity!

And so it starts...

Being that our Motown collective works in a rather creative environment, it was never going to be long before that creativity found itself used for other purposes...

Thanks DT...

Say yo if you know that yo' flow will grow a mo, fo' sho!

Welcome aboard the high-speed train to bristle-laden adventure and escapades during Movember!

For those unfamiliar with the whole Movember shenanigans, have a read:

The Movember event raises awareness around men's health issues and funds for carefully selected beneficiary partners that are also charitable organisations, with a focus on prostate cancer and depression in men.

Since its inception as a formal charity in 2004 Movember has raised over $30 million globally, significantly increased awareness of prostate cancer and depression in the community, and is continuously working to change the attitude men have about their health.

I don't think we can ever doubt the work of some of the most important moustaches in history. Could we look further than:
  • David Boon
  • Choppa Read (the comic one, not the real one)
  • Colonel Sanders
  • The Monopoly man
  • The dog from the Chum ads

Tell me some great things haven't been accomplished by mo bros!

Get behind the Movember charge! FOR GLORY AND BRISTLES!!
